This week I sat next to a couple that have a son with Asperger’s as does my son. But my son is 40 theirs is 14. Oh how I felt their stress, sadness, anger, anxiety, loneliness- this list can go on and on because it changes like the seasons. But the mothers pain does not it is there to fight and it will last beyond others understanding. As we sat together the spirit in me said - stay and share. Ask them about their son. After an hour I knew that the only reason I was at church in this room was to give comfort. No our walk is not the same, but our God is and as I move forward with my son I can reflect back that it was those that went before me that gave me hope. Our needs were not the same but the pain was! Those in Christ gave me strength to keep fighting. But most of all it was my savior’s own mother that taught me to have peace - God has this ! His plan is mighty - it may seem impossible to others, even unwanted - but he knows the future. Of course when we left each other we both still have the stuff that makes us weary, the pain in our hearts, but we know we are not alone, we know someone else can understand a bit about the expression our eyes may tell. Most of all from my 40 year old I know she could see God ! Because only with God has our son become the one he is today. If you know our Joe then you know what I mean.
