I have been praying for my old roommate when I lived with her last year and ever since then. I could see her hurt and was praying to be used as a light in her life. We no longer live together as she graduated, but a few weeks ago she texted me out of the blue asking to go to church with me, which is something I had invited her to almost weekly last year and was always met with an excuse. So, I started praying harder. She ended up bailing and I became discouraged. Two nights ago, I got a text asking if I could meet her on campus with my Bible which she had seen me reading last year. As soon as I ran up to her car, I could see her tear stained eyes and I immediately asked to pray over her. She sobbed as I prayed about God’s love and His promises for her. She confessed that she had been thinking about hurting herself all night because she felt “stuck at a crossroads,” but she reached out as one last effort to keep herself safe and asked me to read a Bible verse to her. She asked tough questions about faith, some of which I could not answer, but I offered to connect her with someone that could. She left that night not only surrounded by her Father’s love but also with my Bible in her hand. Right when I had started to give up any hope for her, God used me at the right moment and I have never felt His presence so strongly.
