I job share a caseload of Hospice patients with another nurse. She left over a month ago and I have been praying anxiously for God to provide a new partner for me. Half worried He would give me a “project”, but hoping for an “equally yoked” person. I have no say into who they assign to the open position. So last week, I was given Susan which feels much like an “arranged marriage- for better or worse”. I know very little about her. She doesn’t start for 2 weeks. So I got her email and wrote to her to invite her to lunch ahead of her start date so we could get to know one another and be Friends first and Partners second. I told her about myself, including my leading of an SECC online group! I wanted her to know what is important in my life and I genuinely want to get to know her as well. So no matter what her skill level or personality or how she looks- I want to love her unconditionally and not treat her like a project. Taking her to lunch ahead of time is going the extra mile. May I walk many more miles with her!
