I work for a large company coordinating conference rooms. Most days there’s food left over that gets thrown away. I noticed a cleaning man that was mumbling words under his breath.. I came to him and said: “what’s going on?” so he goes on telling me that he can barely afford the food that’s being thrown away, and that it makes him sad. So I tell him: “do you want to start keeping the leftover food?” he says “I can’t, I will get fired if someone catches me.” I then talked to management to make sure he wouldn’t get in trouble, and authorized him to always take that food home. He thanked me and said his kids were very excited to get Chick-Fil-A every now and then! Needs are not always complicated, all we have to do is take the extra step no one else seems to want to do.
