There is a gift of discovering in your weaknesses, because it's freeing. You won’t find condemnation, exhaustion, or frustration like you might suspect. Insted, you find the power of God in a way that you've never known before. As a community of believers, we can delight in our weaknesses because when we're weak, our Father is strong. We're not ashamed. We don't hide from the things that make us "messy" or "imperfect" in the eyes of the world, because, in those things, his grace is shown to be sufficient. His grace is shown to be enough!
We want our prayer to be like that of John the Baptist where he states to God that he desires, “Less of me, more of you.” In our society and culture, we tightly hold onto our own identity, worthiness, what other people think of us, and what other people say about us. And yet, Jesus came in weakness. He was born into poverty and weakness, so that he could show us how true strength is discovered. Life to the full and discovering your power in full comes when we acknowledge our weakness, and we put our faith and our dependence in our Savior. We have to stop hiding, pretending, and posturing, and start delighting in God’s strength through us.
Reflection/Discussion Question: What active steps can you take today to start delighting in God's strength, instead of you own?
